What CreditSquare presented at LendIt San Francisco in 2016

Björn Lindvall represented the UK platform at the conference. Charles Thorburn’s contemporary account described its focus on larger SME loans and credit assessment.

In April 2016 Björn Lindvall appeared at LendIt San Francisco as a representative of an emerging UK lending platform. On 19 April Charles Thorburn linked to his reflections on the conference. His account placed CreditSquare at the larger end of SME marketplace lending, citing loans of £1 million to £25 million as its intended market at the time.

The case the firm made

Thorburn asked what advantage a specialist platform would retain if banks adopted similar technology. For CreditSquare he identified the scope to tailor a term loan to one business and the time required to reach a credit decision. His argument depended on the quality of the underlying credit review, as well as on the software used to move the transaction along.

The founder’s merchant banking article gives the institutional investor’s side of the same argument. The former offering explains the advisory activity that preceded the platform.
