On 11 April 2016 Oscar Fransson published the former CreditSquare’s results for the three months ending in December 2015. Credit activity expanded. Availability fell below the series’ 50-point neutral level for the first time that year, according to the release.
Scores for the three months to December
| Quarter | Credit activity | Credit availability |
|---|---|---|
| Q4 2015 | 66.7 | 44.4 |
Quantitative Bank of England data supported the activity result, while borrower and lender survey inputs for activity were neutral. On the availability side the firm attributed the lower figure to negative responses from borrowers. A business deciding whether it could obtain funding and a lender recording an outstanding loan were observing different parts of the market.
The Q2 release illustrates an earlier period when the availability score was higher than the activity score. That comparison spans six months. We have no verified Q3 observation to insert between the two.
