A visual guide to the original SME credit indices

The September 2014 CreditSquare infographic explained the original demand and supply indices. Read the launch scores alongside their scale and sources.

On 22 September 2014 Charles Thorburn published an infographic explaining the CreditSquare UK SME Credit Indices. The page supplied an image and a link that other publishers could embed. The replacement graphic at that image address illustrates the published figures in a new design.

Q2 2014 in index points

Quarter Credit demand Credit supply
Q2 2014 56.0 86.1

The first release’s midpoint was 50. Demand stood six points above it and supply stood 36.1 points above it. A higher reading indicated expansion in the underlying indicators. The series brought together lending data and responses from borrowers and lenders, so its units are index points. An interest rate, a loan balance or an approval percentage measures something else.

Read the launch account for definitions or the historical review for a worked comparison between two quarters. The later activity and availability releases used a revised methodology.
